Advice for Road Runners: The eagerly awaited Index.01 from Salomon is at the pinnacle of recyclability in the shoe market. This innovative shoe has been designed to be recycled once it’s reached the end of it’s running life, an exciting step in Salomon’s mission towards a circular product lifecycle.
How It Works:
After purchasing, you simply register the shoes on Salomon.com and will receive an email every 3-6 months, providing you with a shipping label to one of Salomons recycle centres. Once the shoes are no longer suitable for use, you can send them back to be separated for recycling. The upper, midsole and outsole are all recyclable and the materials are then re-used to manufacture Salomon products. For example, the midsole and outsole are made from TPU which is broken down into pellets. These pellets are then used to make ski boot shells in their Romanian factory.

This sustainable road running shoe is designed to push the boundaries in footwear production, while offering a high performance shoe with a plush underfoot feel. Great for slower paced runs with a rocker like geometry that will reduce stress on the legs, the midsole also offers good energy return for faster running. It’s ideal for runners who need high levels of cushioning combined with a responsive ride.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles. Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes). This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
